Ottawa Senators’ captain, Brady Tkachuk, will be sidelined for an estimated six to eight weeks following a surgical procedure on his right thumb, as announced by the NHL franchise on Thursday. The decision for surgery came after Tkachuk sought a second opinion from specialists, with the injury originating from a cross-check by Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators early in Monday night’s game. Tkachuk, a 26-year-old forward from the United States, endured the incident during the game but later exited in the third period.
The operation’s timing positions Tkachuk for a potential return in late November or early December, well in advance of the Milan-Cortina Olympics scheduled for February. Both Brady and his brother, Matthew, a player for the Florida Panthers, have been selected for the U.S. team despite Matthew’s injury, which is expected to keep him out until December. This development ensures the Tkachuk brothers’ availability for the upcoming international tournament.
