“Israeli TV Producer of ‘Tehran’ Series Dies in Greece”

Israeli television producer Dana Eden, renowned for her involvement in creating the award-winning series “Tehran,” has tragically passed away in Greece, as reported by the Israeli public broadcaster KAN on Monday. The 52-year-old producer was discovered deceased in a hotel in Athens, with initial indications pointing towards a possible suicide, and no suspicion of foul play, according to a Greek police official who spoke anonymously due to police protocol.

Dana Eden was in Greece for the filming of the fourth season of the popular series “Tehran.” KAN expressed deep sorrow over her sudden demise, highlighting her significant contributions to the Israeli television industry and the success of various productions under the corporation. The broadcaster did not disclose the cause of her death but emphasized her professionalism, unwavering dedication, and creative impact.

Addressing speculations surrounding the circumstances of Dana Eden’s death, her production company, Donna and Shula Productions, refuted any rumors of criminal intent or political motivation. They urged for respect towards Dana’s memory and the privacy of her family during this difficult time.

Israel’s Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar also mourned the loss, describing Dana Eden as a leading figure in the Israeli television landscape who showcased Israeli narratives on a global platform with talent and courage. Eden’s notable career began in the 1990s, working on various TV shows before achieving international success with “Tehran.” Her contributions were recognized with accolades such as the best TV magazine for children and youth at the Awards of the Israeli Television Academy for her show “Saving the Wildlife.”

“Tehran,” which premiered in Israel and on Apple TV in 2020, follows the story of Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad operative on a mission to sabotage the Iranian nuclear reactor. The series garnered acclaim, culminating in the prestigious title of best drama series at the 49th International Emmy Awards in November 2021.
