Tegan Quin, a member of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot titled “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” set for release on May 27. This comic showcases the beloved gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connections during challenging times.
In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by artist Luciano Vecchio, the story revolves around twins Wiccan and Speed joining forces to confront Ultron while navigating their evolving paths as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for Wiccan and Speed, stating that as a twin herself, she couldn’t have been more thrilled to work on these characters. She also mentioned that her Marvel debut with this story was not only thrilling but also felt enchanting. Quin humorously hinted that dealing with Ultrons in the comic had a cathartic effect, reminiscent of encounters with certain individuals in the music industry.
Apart from Quin, the comic will feature contributions from other writers such as Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also an advocate for Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select a book they believe the entire nation should read. The books are debated over four days, with one being eliminated daily until a winner emerges. This year’s edition is scheduled for April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have launched ten studio albums, featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their music has garnered over a million sales, earning them prestigious awards such as Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins expanded their writing endeavors beyond music to include a joint memoir titled “High School” and a middle-grade graphic novel series “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and investments in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to the duo receiving the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
