The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has raised concerns about the Bishnoi gang targeting individuals associated with the pro-Khalistan movement in Canada, allegedly under the direction of the Indian government.
During a recent news conference, RCMP’s assistant commissioner Brigitte Gauvin implicated the Bishnoi group, alleging ties to agents of the Indian government. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also highlighted this connection in his testimony regarding foreign interference, stating that information gathered by Indian diplomats on Canadian dissidents was shared with criminal organizations like the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, resulting in violence against Canadians.
Indian officials have dismissed these allegations, counter-accusing Canada of sheltering violent Khalistan supporters and manipulating the situation for political gain with the Sikh community. India has emphasized that extradition requests for gangsters, including Bishnoi group members, have been ignored by Canada.

Originally involved in student politics in Punjab, Bishnoi’s criminal network now spans across North America, Europe, the Gulf states, and other regions with significant Punjabi communities. He commands a gang of 700 members in India, with numerous hideouts and criminal activities orchestrated from within prison.
