“London Multimedia Collective Unveils A/V Spectacle at Honey Dip”

Date:

A collective of multimedia creators in London is collaborating to craft a live audiovisual spectacle aimed at offering audiences a unique musical encounter beyond conventional headphones or typical concerts. Alex MacLean, a media artist and co-founder of Blue Heron Interactive, is organizing the second edition of A/V Night at Honey Dip in Old East Village this Saturday. The event will showcase three electronic music performers delivering live sets, while a visual artist concurrently animates the space with dynamic graphics and lighting effects.

MacLean explained that the concept involves synchronizing elements and utilizing specific audio frequencies to manipulate the visuals. Artistic control is not limited to mere projection; artists engage with a controller featuring sliders, buttons, and knobs programmed to alter the visual display. Artwork may traverse the walls, zoom in and out, or gradually fade away, offering a myriad of interpretations. The interplay extends to live musicians, who can improvise based on the visual stimuli, fostering a captivating feedback loop.

Musician Justin Aitcheson, known as Turbo Tambourine, will be showcasing his eclectic blend of “bleeps and bloops” at the event. Using a neon-adorned synthesizer dubbed “rainbow spaghetti,” Aitcheson crafts and manipulates various rhythms and sounds. Enna Kim, a Toronto-based artist, will join Aitcheson along with fellow musicians Mothers Against Drum Machines and Calien and the Electric Bride for an immersive audiovisual experience like never before.
