Real Madrid imposed fines of 500,000 euros ($588,000 US) each on Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni following an incident during a training session. The altercation between the midfielders resulted in Valverde being hospitalized due to a head injury.
The disciplinary action was initiated by Real Madrid after the players were involved in a physical confrontation during practice. Valverde clarified in a social media post that no punches were thrown but mentioned hitting a table, leading to a minor cut that required medical attention.
Both players expressed their regrets and issued apologies to each other, leading to the conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings, as stated by the 15-time European champions in a released statement on Friday. Tchouameni returned to training with the team ahead of their upcoming match against Barcelona, a crucial fixture where Madrid must secure a victory to prevent Barcelona from clinching the La Liga title.
Valverde, on the other hand, was absent from training as he continues to recover from the head injury sustained during the incident.
