Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and a past advisor to President Donald Trump, is currently in critical but stable condition at a hospital, as confirmed by his spokesperson on Sunday. The reason for Giuliani’s hospitalization and the duration of his stay were not disclosed by Ted Goodman.
Goodman emphasized Giuliani’s resilience and fighting spirit, stating that the 81-year-old has always confronted challenges with unwavering strength. He mentioned in a social media post that Giuliani is currently in critical but stable condition. Despite his health condition, Giuliani hosted his online program, “America’s Mayor Live,” from Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday evening.
During the show’s opening, Giuliani coughed and spoke with a raspier voice than usual, acknowledging his slightly under-the-weather voice and adjusting his speaking volume accordingly. Giuliani earned the moniker “America’s mayor” following his leadership in New York City post the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Having later served as Trump’s personal attorney and vocal supporter of the allegations of fraud in the 2020 election, Giuliani faced legal challenges, including a $148 million defamation judgment and a trial over asset ownership. Despite these legal battles, Giuliani managed to retain his properties and personal possessions, including valuable World Series rings, by reaching a settlement.
Former President Trump expressed his support for Giuliani on social media, criticizing the treatment Giuliani received from political opponents and defending his actions during the election aftermath. Giuliani, a prominent figure in New York City politics, had previously run for the U.S. Senate in 2000 but withdrew from the race due to a prostate cancer diagnosis.
Giuliani had been hospitalized in September due to injuries sustained in a car accident in New Hampshire, adding to his history of health challenges. His career has been marked by his tenure as a prosecutor targeting organized crime and financial misconduct before his political ventures.
