Bonnie Tyler out of coma, in critical condition

Date:

Singer Bonnie Tyler has come out of a coma but remains in a critical condition in intensive care, according to an update on her official website. The renowned pop star, aged 75, with her distinctive gravelly voice and a Grammy nomination, was hospitalized last month in Faro, Portugal, where she resides, for emergency surgery on her intestines. Following the surgery, she was placed in a medically induced coma.

Although she is now out of the coma, her recovery is described as slow. The statement released on Monday mentioned that while her condition is improving, it will take time. Despite this, her medical team is optimistic about her making a full recovery.

Due to her health situation, Tyler’s scheduled performances up to August have been either canceled or rescheduled. Nonetheless, there is still hope that her autumn shows will proceed as planned.

Bonnie Tyler is most famous for her 1980s hit ballad “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” a popular choice for karaoke enthusiasts that sees a surge in popularity during solar or lunar eclipses. Hailing from Wales and originally a coal miner’s daughter, Tyler previously had a successful track in 1978 with “It’s a Heartache” before achieving widespread fame with “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” written by Jim Steinman, known for his work with Meat Loaf.
