Titled “The Pyramid: An Unauthorized ‘Dance Moms’ Musical,” the idea originated from college friends James Stryska and Isabel Grace Blankenship, who envisioned the reality show as a musical while browsing at a thrift store.
Their project gained momentum when they posted an original song, “My Little Kendall,” on TikTok in 2023, receiving over five million views and garnering support from former cast members of “Dance Moms.”
The musical caught the attention of L.A.-based producer Logan Clark, who saw the potential for the project. With Tye Blue, the director of another successful parody musical based on Céline Dion, on board as a creative producer, the team is dedicated to bringing the essence of “Dance Moms” to the stage.
Despite the show ending years ago, “Dance Moms” remains popular, with iconic moments becoming viral sensations on platforms like TikTok. The show’s stars, including Maddie Ziegler and JoJo Siwa, have gone on to achieve success in various fields, keeping the show’s legacy alive in pop culture.
The creators of the parody musical aim to capture the essence of “Dance Moms” while highlighting the relationships and dynamics behind the scenes. With a focus on authenticity and storytelling, the team is actively engaging with audiences on social media and crowdfunding to bring their vision to life on stage.
