A man in south-central Manitoba faces assault charges for recording himself kicking an elderly man in the stomach over the weekend. The 71-year-old victim was attacked in Portage la Prairie, near Fourth Street N.W. and Saskatchewan Avenue W., with the incident reported to authorities at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The assailant filmed the older man before approaching him and delivering a kick to the stomach, as detailed by the police on Monday. The victim, who was near his vehicle at the time, did not know the attacker and fortunately sustained only minor injuries.
Law enforcement located the suspect at a nearby residence, leading to his arrest. The 41-year-old individual, a resident of Portage la Prairie, has been formally charged with assault and subsequently released under an undertaking.
