Health Canada has announced an extension of the recall for several Oster toaster oven models due to a defect in their glass French doors that may unexpectedly close, potentially causing burns to consumers. The affected models include TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDDG-033, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033, and TSSTTVFDDAF-033, all experiencing the same issue.
Consumers can locate the model number on the back of the appliance or on the original packaging. The initial recall was issued in September, with an additional model, Model TSSTTVFDDG-033, being added to the list recently. Approximately 104,195 units were sold in Canada between August 2015 and July 2025.
Oster advises individuals to discontinue using the recalled ovens immediately and to reach out to Sunbeam Products Inc. for a complimentary repair kit. The kit includes a clip-on device to prevent door closure during oven operation, along with installation instructions. Refunds or replacements for the affected ovens are not being provided by the company.
The recall also impacts models sold in the United States, where Oster has received 95 injury reports from consumers due to doors closing unexpectedly, including two cases of second-degree burns. To date, no injuries related to this issue have been reported in Canada.
For more information, Canadians can visit the recall website at https://recall.oster.com or contact Sunbeam at 1-800-667-8623 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
