Renowned author Ian Williams immersed himself in the world of his protagonist by enrolling in a construction course while writing his latest book, “You’ve Changed.” Williams, known for his diverse literary works including award-winning novels and poetry collections, currently serves as an English professor at the University of Toronto and heads the creative writing program.

In “You’ve Changed,” protagonists Beckett and Princess navigate mid-life challenges within their marriage, triggered by a weekend visit from friends. As Princess contemplates cosmetic surgery to address perceived physical issues, Beckett seeks to rekindle their relationship through revitalizing his contracting business. The novel delves into the complexities of personal transformation within relationships and was recognized on the 2025 Giller Prize longlist.
