The 40-year-old player now holds the record for the most goals in World Cup qualifiers, surpassing Carlos Ruiz. Ronaldo’s goals in the 22nd minute and first-half stoppage time brought his total to 41 goals in 50 World Cup qualifiers. With this achievement, Ronaldo now has an unparalleled 143 goals in men’s international matches. Despite his remarkable performance, Hungary managed to equalize in stoppage time, denying Portugal an early World Cup spot. Portugal remains at the top of Group F, leading Hungary by five points.
