Vancouver’s Aritzia, a prominent fashion retailer, is preparing to unveil a new flagship store spanning 40,000 square feet at CF Pacific Centre, taking over the former Nordstrom space. The expansion aims to enhance the brand’s presence at the intersection of Robson and Howe streets by 2027.
Established in Vancouver in 1984, Aritzia has seen a surge in popularity, especially in the U.S., with its annual warehouse sale in Vancouver attracting numerous shoppers. The retailer’s move to secure a “flagship boutique” location signifies a strategic growth initiative.
According to David Ian Gray, an instructor at Capilano University’s School of Business, Aritzia will occupy only a portion of the former Nordstrom space, leaving room for potential additional retailers. This move is anticipated to invigorate the downtown Vancouver retail landscape following Nordstrom’s departure in 2023 and the recent closure of Hudson’s Bay.
Aritzia plans to introduce a “casual-yet-elevated dining concept” within the four-storey store, as stated by CEO Jennifer Wong. Gray praises Aritzia as one of Canada’s leading retailers, noting its success in the “affordable luxury” market segment, both domestically and internationally. The brand’s emphasis on quality control and design has positioned it as a formidable player in the fashion industry.
The upcoming flagship store represents a significant milestone for Aritzia, showcasing its commitment to delivering a premium retail experience in its hometown of Vancouver.
