Bad Bunny to Headline Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime

Date:

Bad Bunny is set to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show next year, bringing his Latin trap and reggaeton style to the NFL’s grandest stage. The announcement was made by the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation during halftime of the Sunday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Expressing his emotions, Bad Bunny stated, “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who paved the way for me to come and make an impact. This is for my people, my culture, and our history.” His upcoming performance follows a successful Puerto Rico residency that attracted over half a million fans and his leading nominations at the upcoming Latin Grammys.

The Puerto Rican artist, also known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, has achieved global recognition for his music, winning three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He has not only excelled in the music industry but has also ventured into acting, fashion collaborations, and hosting duties on Saturday Night Live.

Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation, praised Bad Bunny for his inspirational contributions to Puerto Rico and expressed honor in having him on the Super Bowl stage. Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will co-executive produce the halftime show, scheduled to take place at Levi’s Stadium on February 8 in Santa Clara, California, the home turf of the San Francisco 49ers.

Bad Bunny’s selection reflects the NFL’s aim to showcase diverse musical talents on a global platform. His ability to transcend genres and languages has propelled Latin music into mainstream pop culture, as acknowledged by industry experts and officials. Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar set a viewership record, and anticipation is high for Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance.

The announcement of Bad Bunny as the headliner for Super Bowl LX ended speculations about Taylor Swift possibly taking on the halftime show. While Swift’s association with the Kansas City Chiefs through her engagement to tight end Travis Kelce sparked rumors, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell remained tight-lipped about any potential Swift performance, leaving fans in suspense.
