The Boston Fleet secured a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Charge in the opening game of their best-of-five semifinal series. Alina Müller and Jamie Lee Rattray each found the back of the net within a short span late in the second period to lead their team to victory.
Müller capitalized on a pass from Jessie Eldridge, maneuvered past two defenders, and fired a shot past goaltender Gwyneth Philips with just over two minutes remaining in the second period. Shortly after, Rattray added to the lead with a backhand shot, extending Boston’s streak of winning Game 1 in playoff series.
On the opposing side, Ottawa’s Jocelyne Larocque scored the first goal of the PWHL playoffs on a power play, redirecting Rory Guilday’s shot into the net in the first period. This marked the first game in their season series that was not decided in overtime or a shootout.
The next matchup between the two teams is set for Game 2 in Boston on Saturday. The Boston Fleet now hold the upper hand in the semifinal series following their Game 1 triumph.
