Canada and the United States are set to compete in a women’s flag football showcase this weekend. The teams will face off during halftime of the Buffalo Bills’ upcoming home game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium. The match will run for eight minutes and will mark the first meeting of international women’s flag football teams on an NFL field. This event comes ahead of flag football’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Quarterback Sara Parker expressed her excitement about Team Canada’s participation in the halftime event, emphasizing the opportunity to promote flag football, showcase athletes’ skills, and inspire girls to engage in the sport. Canada recently secured a silver medal at the 2025 IFAF Continental championship in Panama after claiming bronze at the 2025 World Games in China.
Head coach Rachel Lessard expressed gratitude to the Buffalo Bills for the chance to play under the stadium lights and on the renowned field in front of a passionate audience. She highlighted the significance of the event as a representation of unity, respect, and a shared love for sports between the two nations.
