Courtney Sarault continued her winning streak by clinching gold in the women’s 1,000 meters at the Canadian short track speed skating championships held in Montreal. The Moncton native finished first with a time of 1 minute 29.214 seconds at Maurice Richard Arena, taking the lead in the final three laps.
Ann-Sophie Bachand from Sherbrooke, Quebec, made an impressive double move, advancing from fourth place to secure the silver medal with a time of 1:29.982. Danae Blais from Chateauguay, Quebec, claimed the bronze with a time of 1:30.352.
In the men’s competition, Felix Roussel from Sherbrooke, Quebec, secured his third gold medal of the championships. Roussel overtook overall points leader William Dandjinou from Montreal in the last lap, finishing first with a time of 1:25.144 and earning the top spot with 14,000 points in the 1000-meter event. Dandjinou settled for silver, clocking in at 1:25.379, while Mathieu Pelletier from Laval, Quebec, took home the bronze with a time of 1:25.672.
The final day of the championships is set for Sunday.
