“Deadly Clashes Escalate Between Israel and Hezbollah”

Date:

Israel conducted airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals, whereas the Hezbollah group claimed responsibility for firing rockets and drones at northern Israel, causing injuries to two soldiers. Despite a ceasefire in place since April 17, both Israel’s military and Hezbollah continued their attacks.

Israel’s military issued a warning to residents of the Lebanese village of Habboush, near Nabatiyeh, urging them to evacuate due to the proximity to Hezbollah’s facilities. An airstrike on Habboush led to the death of six individuals, including a woman and a child, and injured eight others. Additionally, four individuals were reported killed in strikes on three other southern villages.

Hezbollah launched drones and rockets at Israeli military positions, as confirmed by the Israeli military. An explosive drone launched by Hezbollah fell near the Lebanese border, causing a fire in northern Israel. Two soldiers sustained light injuries in separate drone impacts in the area.

Paramedics in southern Lebanon recovered the bodies of five individuals, including a man and his three sons, who were killed in an airstrike in the village of Kfar Rumman. The deceased were identified as Malek Hamza and his sons, Ali, Fadel, and Hamza, along with a Lebanese soldier named Ali Jaber.

Residents displaced by the conflict have begun returning to their homes in southern Lebanon. Despite the challenges, such as damaged properties from previous conflicts, individuals like Umm Ali Khodor expressed their determination to resume normalcy.

An official from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies condemned the targeting of Red Cross volunteers during the Israel-Hezbollah conflict. The official highlighted the risks faced by health workers and volunteers amid the ongoing violence.

The latest escalation between Israel and Hezbollah began on March 2, following rocket attacks by the militant group into northern Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion of southern Lebanon. The conflict has led to numerous casualties and injuries on both sides.

Lebanon and Israel recently engaged in direct talks for the first time in decades. The two countries, long in a state of war since Israel’s establishment in 1948, have been working towards de-escalation through recent ceasefires. The war’s toll has been significant, with thousands of casualties reported in Lebanon.
