A case of mistaken identity took center stage at Felicia Harding’s wedding on Vancouver Island this summer, as guests repeatedly confused the bride with her friend Brittany Delaney. Despite donning a white dress, the two petite women with similar features – brown curly hair, bangs, and wide smiles – left attendees perplexed.
Not only the guests but even Harding’s husband found himself unsure at times, mistaking Delaney for his bride. The striking resemblance between the two, who live in different cities, led to amusing mix-ups throughout the event.
This confusion isn’t new to the duo, as it was actually this uncanny similarity that brought them together in the first place. Delaney, the owner of Confections Cake Company in St. Albert, and Harding, a musician from Victoria, met online six years ago when a mutual acquaintance pointed out their likeness in a social media post.
Intrigued, they connected and soon discovered how remarkably alike they looked. Bonding over their shared features and West Coast upbringing, the women eventually met in person. Delaney’s son, Atlas, had a memorable reaction when he couldn’t distinguish between Harding and his own mother, highlighting the extent of their resemblance.
Their friendship deepened over the years, leading to surprising revelations like being able to unlock each other’s phones with facial recognition. Despite their close bond, a recent DNA test confirmed that they are not biologically related, leaving the mystery of their resemblance unresolved.
Looking ahead, Harding and Delaney plan to explore their family histories further to uncover any hidden connections. For now, their unique friendship, forged through a series of serendipitous events, remains a testament to the inexplicable bond shared between doppelgängers.
