Israel announced on Monday that the Red Cross delivered the body of another deceased hostage from Gaza to the Israeli military, as stated by the Israeli prime minister’s office. This development suggests that there are still 12 hostages’ remains in Gaza awaiting identification. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, has highlighted challenges in locating these bodies amidst the debris left by the conflict.
The recovery and transfer of deceased hostages’ bodies in Gaza have posed challenges to the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan. A spokesperson from the Israeli government mentioned that the militant group has information on the whereabouts of the bodies.
To aid in the search efforts, Israel permitted an Egyptian technical team to collaborate with the Red Cross in locating the bodies. The team will utilize excavators and trucks for the search operation beyond the designated yellow line in Gaza, where Israeli troops had initially withdrawn under Trump’s plan.
