“John Oliver to Make Soap Opera Debut on ‘General Hospital'”

Date:

Comedian and late-night host John Oliver, known for his Emmy-award winning show, is set to fulfill a long-held aspiration by appearing in a daytime soap opera. ABC announced that Oliver will have a significant guest role in “General Hospital,” with his first appearance scheduled for this Thursday. The stint will span a three-episode arc airing on July 3, 6, and 9.

Oliver’s journey to the soap opera began earlier this year when, during an episode of his HBO show “Last Week Tonight,” he expressed his desire to be part of a daytime soap opera. His plea was fueled by envy towards ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who had appeared on “General Hospital” for years. Oliver’s pitch to soap operas was met with enthusiasm, with him explicitly stating his willingness to portray a character in the drama.

“General Hospital” wasted no time in responding to Oliver’s offer, welcoming him to Port Charles. While the details of Oliver’s role remain a secret, ABC teased fans with a first-look image of Oliver in a navy blue suit, exuding a serious demeanor alongside two men in tactical gear. The show’s executive producer praised Oliver’s professionalism and humor on set, hinting at the importance of his character in the storyline.

Oliver, in his statement, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, labeling his experience on “General Hospital” as an honor. His appearance is highly anticipated by both fans of the show and followers of his comedic work.
