Joni Mitchell and Nelly Furtado are set to be recognized at the upcoming 55th Juno Awards in Hamilton next March. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and CBC made the announcement that Mitchell will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the National Arts Centre, while Furtado will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the 2026 Juno Awards at the newly opened TD Coliseum in Hamilton.
Mitchell, a four-time Juno winner, is being acknowledged for her pioneering career spanning decades and her significant influence on global music culture. She was previously inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame back in 1981.
Furtado’s induction into the Hall of Fame will celebrate her longstanding success in the music industry, her multiple Juno, Grammy, and Latin Grammy wins, and her impact on the pop music scene since the early 2000s. She joins recent Hall of Fame inductees such as Sum 41, Maestro Fresh Wes, Nickelback, Deborah Cox, and Jann Arden.
The Juno Awards will be returning to Hamilton after a ten-year absence, featuring performances by local favorites Arkells and Toronto band the Beaches. Arkells have secured nine Juno wins since 2010, with six of them for Group of the Year, while the Beaches have won all five awards they’ve been nominated for since 2018.
CARAS President and CEO Allan Reid expressed excitement about the event returning to Hamilton, stating that the city has a deep-rooted connection to music. The lineup, including iconic artists Joni Mitchell and Nelly Furtado, celebrates Canada’s rich musical heritage.
In addition to the main event, the Juno Awards and MusiCounts will collaborate for a special industry exchange program, connecting 10 music educators with 10 local musicians from Hamilton to foster community-building and hands-on learning opportunities.
The 2026 Juno Awards are scheduled for March 29 at 8 p.m. ET in Hamilton’s TD Coliseum. Tickets will be available for purchase starting on November 28 at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster, with an early-access pre-sale code (CBCMUSIC) for November 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
