People in Ontario will now have accelerated access to newly approved cancer medications, as announced by Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s deputy premier and health minister. The Funding Accelerated for Specific Treatments (FAST) initiative, unveiled at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, aims to expedite the availability of seven to ten crucial cancer drugs annually that have received Health Canada’s approval. This program will significantly reduce waiting times and enhance patients’ access to life-saving treatments, bridging the gap between regulatory approval and public funding negotiations in various Canadian jurisdictions.
