Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson shared on social media that they have been practicing around 35 songs for an upcoming tour as Rush next year. The tour dates released so far span from June to September 2026 across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, including two shows in Toronto in August.
The band’s last performance was in Los Angeles in 2015. The possibility of a reunion faded after the passing of drummer Neil Peart on Jan. 7, 2020, following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Anika Nilles, a talented German drummer known for her solo work and being part of Jeff Beck’s touring band, will join Rush as the new drummer. Lee and Lifeson have made appearances together since Peart’s passing, including tribute shows for Gordon Lightfoot and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters.
Both Lee and Lifeson, esteemed members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, have been engaged in various side projects. Lee published a memoir in 2023, while Lifeson has released two albums with his band Envy of None.
The duo hinted at the possibility of adding a fourth musician for the upcoming Fifty Something tour, deviating from their traditional power trio setup. They have previously discussed the challenges of performing live, especially for Lee, who is known for handling bass and keyboard duties in the studio.
