The Russian Defence Ministry alleged that Ukraine did not uphold its own ceasefire, claiming that 53 Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defenses over Russian territories, the Crimean Peninsula, and the Black Sea between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
According to Russia-installed Gov. Sergei Aksyonov, a Ukrainian drone strike in Crimea’s city of Dzhankoi resulted in the deaths of five individuals. Aksyonov disclosed the casualties shortly after midnight, although he had posted about the attack itself over 90 minutes earlier.

With the conflict entering its fifth year post-Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, hopes for a cessation of hostilities were dim, especially after unsuccessful U.S.-led diplomatic endeavors to halt the war in the past year.
