A new board game called “American Dictator” has emerged, created by a group of teenagers from London, Ont., inspired by U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial actions. The game satirizes Trump’s decisions, such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico, focusing on tax and spending bills, and his involvement in high-profile court cases.
Players of “American Dictator” aim to acquire American cities for development, with elements reminiscent of the popular game Monopoly. The game features special spaces where players can trap opponents in an ICE detention facility, manipulate game rules with a Supreme Court justice, or engage in casino gambling. Players also draw cards representing questionable decisions, including one where a hotel goes bankrupt due to a decline in Canadian visitors.
The game, which sold 25 copies in its first week, is intended to educate youth about politics in a lighthearted manner. The teenage creators believe it can spark conversations and raise awareness about current political issues. They hope the game will encourage players to stand up for what is right and protect their country.
“American Dictator” is priced at $50 and is available for purchase online. The creators plan to develop more games related to geopolitics, including a version of Cards Against Humanity named “Cards Against Democracy.” The project is funded by family members and offers additional merchandise like T-shirts and mugs.
The group of teenagers expressed interest in President Trump playing their game and are eager to hear his reaction. They emphasize the importance of speaking out against injustice and defending their country’s values.
