Vancouver authorities reported a stabbing incident that occurred on the Yaletown seawall, where three individuals were attacked by an unidentified female suspect who is currently on the run. The Vancouver Police Department was alerted to the stabbings near David Lam Park at approximately 7:30 a.m. PT.
According to Const. Tania Visintin, a spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department, the victims sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and were promptly transported to a medical facility for treatment. The police believe that the stabbings were separate occurrences, potentially taking place within minutes of each other.
Visintin informed CBC News that the stabbings seemed to be unprovoked and random, with no prior altercations reported. The suspect is described as an Indigenous woman in her late 20s or early 30s, sporting long black hair tied in a ponytail and a slender physique. She was dressed in a black leather jacket, tight pants, and a leopard-print shirt or scarf.
Law enforcement officers are currently scouring the vicinity for surveillance footage to obtain a clearer image of the suspect. Visintin acknowledged the apprehension felt by individuals frequenting the seawall and residents in the area, emphasizing the alarming nature of the incident.
She highlighted the potential psychological impact on the victims following an unexpected assault, urging anyone with relevant information or video recordings to come forward and assist the authorities in their investigation.
