Singh humorously mentioned that she may now permanently identify as “Lilly Singh, PhD,” indicating the impact of this honor on her. She also shared plans to commemorate the occasion with self-care activities, including writing a letter to her younger self.
During her convocation address, Singh reflected on her journey, recalling her initial graduation in 2010 when she earned a degree in psychology. She humorously mentioned wearing a T-shirt with the letter “S” representing her YouTube persona, Superwoman, and joked about her lack of knowledge regarding copyright laws at the time.
The 37-year-old gained worldwide fame through her comedic YouTube content, eventually transitioning to mainstream media. Notable projects include hosting the late-night show “A Little Late with Lilly Singh” and the game show “Battle of the Generations” on CTV.
Singh emphasized embracing life’s uncertainties and being open to ongoing learning opportunities. She has also ventured into film, with roles in animated movies and producing her sex-ed comedy film, “Doin’ It.”
Currently based in Los Angeles, Singh remains uncertain about permanently relocating to Canada due to geopolitical tensions. She expressed the importance of following her purpose and serving where needed, despite the challenges posed by fluctuating circumstances.
