Nineteen additional pistachio and pistachio-containing items have been pulled from shelves in Canada due to potential salmonella contamination, adding to the existing recalls as part of an ongoing food safety probe. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is continuously updating its recall listings, which now include over 200 affected products. The latest recall involves various products in eight provinces.
The newly recalled items include pistachio kernels of different quantities sold at Big Bazaar in Surrey, B.C., raw pistachios from Greco’s Specialty Foods Market in Surrey, B.C., pistachios from Sunrise Market in Vancouver, raw natural pistachios from Quebec under the Paparico Rôtisseur de noix brand, raw shelled pistachio kernels from Tootsi brand distributed in multiple provinces, raw pistachio kernels under the Yupik brand in different provinces, raw mixed nuts and nature trail mix from Tootsi Impex Inc., Costco Brittle Mix, dry-roasted pistachio kernels, pistachio nut butter, and various pistachio products sold at different stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and other provinces.
The CFIA advises consumers to discard or return the recalled products to the purchase locations and avoid consuming them to prevent any health risks.
