Lisa Richardson, a resident of Toronto, shared her personal journey of unexpected pregnancies and infertility challenges. Growing up in a tumultuous environment marked by her mother’s alcoholism and her parents’ separation, Lisa found herself pregnant at 16. Despite her circumstances, she made the difficult decision to give her baby up for adoption.
Years later, after achieving stability in her life and reconnecting with her son from the adoption, Lisa and her husband Chris tried to conceive but faced fertility struggles. Multiple failed fertility treatments left them disheartened. However, after three years of trying, Lisa finally became pregnant and welcomed her daughter, Kathleen, into the world in 2009.
The arrival of Kathleen not only fulfilled Lisa’s dream of motherhood but also brought a sense of completeness to her family. Reuniting with her son and raising her daughter allowed Lisa to embrace her role as a mother without any qualifiers. Today, she cherishes being both Kathleen’s mom and Jayson’s mother, finding joy in the unique bonds she shares with each of her children.
