Richmond RCMP reported an incident where an individual accessed an aircraft without authorization at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) early Monday morning. The person, who has been taken into custody by the police, remains unidentified. Authorities were alerted to the situation around 4 a.m. PT on Monday.

According to a statement from Richmond RCMP, the individual breached security by entering a secure “apron area” near the terminal by climbing over the fence. Aprons are crucial areas around the terminal where activities such as passenger and cargo loading, refueling, overnight parking, and aircraft maintenance take place, as outlined on the YVR website.
