ABC has given the green light to a new spinoff of the popular medical series, “Grey’s Anatomy,” set in West Texas. The untitled series, slated to debut in the 2026-2027 season, received a full season order without the need for a pilot episode. The show will focus on a team at a rural medical center in West Texas, described as the last resort for medical care in a remote location.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the Texas setting, speculating on potential connections to the original series. Some are intrigued by the change of scenery from the Seattle backdrop of “Grey’s Anatomy,” while others question the choice of location. Notably, the spinoff will retain the creative talents of Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind “Grey’s Anatomy,” who will co-create and executive produce the new series alongside Meg Marinis. Ellen Pompeo, a long-time star of the original show, will also serve as an executive producer, ensuring continuity in the creative team.
