“Montreal to Host Olympic Qualifiers Ahead of 2028 Games”

Date:

Montreal has been selected as one of the designated cities to host the final Olympic qualifiers leading up to the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, as announced by the International Olympic Committee on Thursday. The other cities chosen to host the Olympic Q-Series are Orlando, Tokyo, and Shanghai. This series will showcase various sports including 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, BMX freestyle, climbing, flag football, and skateboarding.

Scheduled to host the third leg of the series from June 1 to 4, 2028, Montreal’s event will take place just before the commencement of the Los Angeles Games. All competitions will be centralized at the Olympic Park, providing a convenient hub for participants and spectators.

The estimated cost of the event is $28 million, with a significant portion of $22 million expected to be contributed by the three levels of government. The remaining funding will be sourced from private partners, some of whom are already affiliated with the Canadian Olympic Committee.
