Blue Jays Pitcher Trey Yesavage Condemns Fan Abuse

Date:

Trey Yesavage has spoken out against baseball fans who have been targeting his family and girlfriend with abuse during the MLB post-season. Yesavage, set to start as the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher in Game 2 of the AL Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners, addressed the issue in a news conference on Sunday.

Expressing his concern over the negativity directed at his loved ones due to his on-field performances, Yesavage emphasized that his family, including his parents, brothers, and girlfriend, should not be subject to such attacks. Following his impressive performance against the New York Yankees in the AL Division Series, where he struck out 11 batters over 5 1/3 innings, Yesavage highlighted the distress caused by the unwarranted criticism.

While not disclosing the specifics of the messages received by his family, Yesavage asserted that his relatives have no involvement in his on-field actions and should not bear the brunt of any negativity. Refusing further questions on the matter, Yesavage used his platform to address the issue and encouraged people to understand the separation between his personal life and professional endeavors.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider, unaware of the abuse towards Yesavage’s family before the news conference, commended the pitcher for speaking out. Schneider praised Yesavage’s courage and support system, acknowledging the unfortunate reality of such situations in professional sports and lauding the young player for standing up for his loved ones. Schneider emphasized the importance of addressing such issues and standing by those who provide love and support.
