Yesavage, set to start as the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher in Game 2 of the AL Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners, addressed the issue in a news conference on Sunday.
Expressing his concern over the negativity directed at his loved ones due to his on-field performances, Yesavage emphasized that his family, including his parents, brothers, and girlfriend, should not be subject to such attacks. Following his impressive performance against the New York Yankees in the AL Division Series, where he struck out 11 batters over 5 1/3 innings, Yesavage highlighted the distress caused by the unwarranted criticism.
While not disclosing the specifics of the messages received by his family, Yesavage asserted that his relatives have no involvement in his on-field actions and should not bear the brunt of any negativity.
