James Barker, the executive producer of the popular reality show Love Island USA, has passed away in Fiji. Barker died recently due to a sudden medical emergency while filming the eighth season of the show, as confirmed by a statement from Peacock Television and ITV America.

In a statement provided to CBC News, ITV America and Peacock expressed their condolences and announced that they would pay tribute to James Barker in an upcoming episode of Love Island USA. The networks emphasized the impact of Barker’s loss on the production team and extended their sympathies to his partner, family, friends, and colleagues.

No specific cause of death was disclosed in the statement. Barker joined Love Island USA as a show producer in 2020 and had been serving as the executive producer for the past three seasons. Prior to his work on Love Island, he started his television career in 2011, contributing to shows like Counting Cars, Forged in Fire, and Pawn Stars. Additionally, Barker was involved in producing the Emmy-winning Queer Eye at ITV America.

Apart from his television career, Barker was also known as a DJ with a devoted fan base. His partner, Adam Roth, described Barker as the “absolute light and love of my life” in a statement to NBC News, expressing gratitude for the time they shared and the memories created together.

On social media, Barker, known as @chaoticdj, had recently posted about the show’s filming in Fiji. Love Island USA’s eighth season premiered on June 2, garnering significant viewership and surpassing the viewership of the previous season by 74%, as per an NBCUniversal press release.

The tragic news of James Barker’s passing has deeply impacted the Love Island USA community, leaving many mourning the loss of a talented and cherished member of the production team.
