Timber Timbre Band Leader Taylor Kirk Dies at 44

Taylor Kirk, the musician known for leading the band Timber Timbre, has passed away at the age of 44. A representative for Kirk confirmed the sudden death on April 14. Expressing deep sorrow, the statement highlighted that Kirk’s music will endure as a lasting legacy. Timber Timbre, founded by Kirk in 2005, gained recognition with the release of their debut album “Medicinals” in 2007. The band’s self-titled third album was nominated for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize, while their 2011 release “Creep on Creepin’ On” made it to the prize’s shortlist. Timber Timbre’s music found its way into various films and TV series, including “Breaking Bad,” “Russian Doll,” and Sarah Polley’s “Stories We Tell.” Described by NPR Music as creating hauntingly beautiful music reminiscent of a mysterious forest at night, Timber Timbre, led by Taylor Kirk, captivates with its distinctive sound. Kirk’s recent album, “Lovage,” released in 2023, marked his seventh studio album.
