Céline Dion has released a new single, marking her return to the music scene. The latest track, a gentle and romantic French ballad titled “Dansons” meaning “Let’s dance” in English, is accompanied by a music video filled with romantic scenes set in Paris featuring dancing couples. This release precedes Dion’s upcoming series of 16 shows at the Paris La Défense Arena from Sept. 12 to Oct. 17, confirming her anticipated comeback following mysterious hints around Paris that included lyrics from her popular songs.
The song “Dansons,” penned by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, is Dion’s first French release in more than a decade and her first original song in years. Her previous release was in 2023 for the film soundtrack “Love Again.” The collaboration with Goldman dates back to their work on Dion’s “Encore un soir” in 2016 and her 1995 album “D’eux,” the best-selling French-language album of all time.
Dion had to halt her Courage world tour in 2023 due to her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that severely impacted her singing ability. This forced break followed a postponement in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dion made her public singing comeback in July 2024, performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris and later at a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, honoring designer Elie Saab’s 45-year career.
The new single release and upcoming performances signal Dion’s highly anticipated return to the stage after facing health challenges that kept her away from performing for several years.
